The Missouri Highways and
Transportation Commission held its December
meeting in Kansas City. The
Commission met in the Boardroom at Union Station, a fitting location rich with
transportation history and success.
Commissioners were welcomed by Union Station President and
CEO George M. Guastello, and heard from several presenters including: the
Sanctuary Workshop, the Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City,
and the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).
The Importance of Investing in Freight Development was also a
topic from several presenters.
Among the duties of the commission was approving bids for
open jobs. One of the jobs at this meeting included the I-35
and Pleasant Valley Interchange, a $40 million project in Clay County.
"We are always excited to host the commission in the Kansas
City Region," said District Engineer Dan Niec. "This is a great opportunity to
highlight the area's transportation needs and issues."
