MoDOT Director and Family Take in Royals Game

Statewide Safety Stand Down - Flagging Operations

Following the loss of one our own in a work zone, MoDOT statewide has implemented a Safety Stand Down for all flagging operations. 

During spring meetings, MoDOT will stop and focus on improving this operation. 

The goal within the next two weeks is to have all field employees receive an enhanced flagger training. 

The training will focus on proper flagging techniques, flagger positioning, planning for mitigation hazards and traffic control enhancements. 

"Training all employees at once will give us the opportunity to get on the same page," said Chief Engineer Ed Hasinger. 

Senior Maintenance Worker Lyndon Ebker died April 7 when he was struck and killed while flushing bridges on Route 100 in the St. Louis area.

He had been with MoDOT for 30 years and previously worked in construction.
